French antique hand carved gilt shelf. Small gold shelf ornately carved with scrolls and organic form.
This beautiful little shelf is carved from wood with a gesso and gold finish. The gilded finish is gently time worn and has a few little chips and dings, but the colour is really lustrous and as it should be.
The overall condition: there are a few little nibbles here and there which you can see in the photos. There is a break on the right hand side near the base where the piece has been re attached at an earlier time, please see the photos. This piece has been priced down accordingly due to the damage. Although it is a little damaged and broken, this does not detract from the splendour of this lovely ornate little piece. Imagine a candlestick displayed on top of this shelf, and viewing it by candlelight, simply stunning. A lovely little shelf that would be ideal for anyone trying to add that French chateau chic look to their home. This self is perfect to display ornaments or to stand candle holders on.
