Antique oil painting. French antique oil on canvas of a country scene.
Here we have a splendid antique oil on canvas showing a lakeside. There is a real quality feel to the painting and on the back there is some writing on the back of the canvas saying that it is a fine canvas. The writing and the numbers help to date the painting to the early twentieth century or possibly late nineteenth.
It is a beautifully painted picture, the artist has really caught the light and shade in the scene, it is very well painted indeed.
There is something very special about this old painting it really does have antique charm in abundance.
The overall condition is good it does have one very small area of paint loss towards the top of the painting which I have pointed out in one of the photos.
There are some initials in the bottom left hand area of the painting for MD.
