French bust. Modernist Clay bust.
Here we have a very special bust in terracotta of a woman. It is a really interesting piece and has a modernist feel to it. It probably dates back to the mid twentieth century and is a very heavy solid clay piece.
It is very nicely modelled and has a real feeling of serenity about it.
It was found locally in an antique shop here in Normandy.
The overall condition is good there are however a few signs of wear here and there. You can see there is a bit of rogue clay just above the right eye on top of the head and there are also wear marks around the base which show that it may have been kept outside at some point in the past. I have not attempted to clean it in any way, it is very much in its found condition. I have tried to show this in the photos. Having said that, this is a wonderful quality piece of art and a piece that we could not pass by. It has been modelled by a really talented artist.
