Mappin and Webb black leather antique vanity case.
Here we have a fabulous piece of luggage from the world renowned makers Mappin and Webb.
Mappin and Webb became Mappin and Webb and co in 1903 so we believe this case is earlier than this as it has a stamp for just Mappin and Webb on the inside.
It really is a top quality item of luggage and we believe it to be a Gentleman‘s vanity case.
The case has the initials C C on the side in gilt lettering.
The overall condition is good but on the inside there is quite a lot of wear with some rips to the material pouches that held the bottles, and some staining to the cloth on the base. I have tried to show some of the damage in the photos. The outside of the bag is in good order for its age with just some minor scuffs here and there.
There is no key for the lock on this bag and as you can see there are no bottles present, they have long gone which is often the case with these old bags.
A beautiful piece of English Victorian luggage from Mappin and Webb a company known for the quality of its items. A piece that would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
