A French 19th century hand hammered brass cauldron or hanging pan with an iron handle which attaches to brackets on the side which themselves are riveted on with copper rivets. This piece has historical repairs using copper rivets. A very good example of the old craftsmanship of repairing humble but essential items. Sold in found condition but you could polish if preferred.
Condition: The pan has good historical repairs with copper rivets and is still very strong and decorative. It has scratches, dents and dings throughout and some rust to the iron handle in places. There is some damage to the rim on one side. It has some verdigris on the inner surface and therefore not for cooking. It would be a good decorative piece or a plant holder, kindling holder etc.
