Here we have a splendid antique oil on canvas showing a rugged coastline probably Brittany or Normandy.
The painting is painted in an impasto style with a raised paint effect. Judging by the age of the canvas I would say this is quite an old painting dating back to the early twentieth century or perhaps even earlier.
There is something very special about this old painting it really does have antique charm in abundance.
It does have some condition issues. The painting itself is in quite good order, but around the edges, which would usually be out of site under the frame, there are some missing tacks, also some of the old holes have rust marks and some of the remaining tacks have rusted as well. It has been stapled in these areas to secure the canvas. We have priced the painting accordingly. It would look fabulous with a nice new gilt frame.
