French antique misers purse. Here we have a very interesting item in the form of a misers purse or bag. These old purses were designed with a slit in the central area for your coins and then you could use the metal ring in the middle to to move over so you could use whichever side of the purse you wanted. Therefore if you were feeling a bit tight you could make out you only had one coin in your purse but you could secretly have loads of coins down the other side. The purse has lovely beaded decoration in vibrant colours and is in quite good condition for its age. We believe it to be a Victorian or perhaps Edwardian example. A charming little collectible purse that would be great to use if you are a re-enactor or just for adding to an interesting collection.
