Antique oil painting of a Victorian gentleman. 19th century portrait.
Here we have a wonderful antique portrait of a gentleman.
The portrait is really well painted and is obviously the work of a very accomplished artist. The use of light around his head really helps to lift the painting.
I can see no signature on the painting and there is no title for who this splendid gentleman is but I would imagine he was from quite a well to do family.
There are a couple of dark marks to the left of the gentlemans face which I have shown in one of the photos. There is one very small hole in the canvas which I have shown in the one of the photos, which looks like a white spot but this does not really detract. There is also the usual light crackling to the paint surface and a few minor scratches here and there but again nothing too bad for the age of the painting.
A fabulous piece of antique art that would make a splendid addition to any collection
