French antique seascape oil on canvas. An antique oil on canvas showing fishing boats in the moonlight beautifully painted, the artist has really caught the light and shade in the scene, it is very well painted indeed. There is no signature that we can find and the painting is unframed. Condition: Fair used condition with some issues, you can see on the back that it has had some repairs in the distant past. this shows that the painting was treasured by a previous owner who wanted to keep it in the best condition they could, so would have had to have paid to have it repaired. we feel that this painting may have been cut down and has been been remounted on old stretchers. There is old canvas present on the sides of the stretchers which someone has used modern staples to fix but I believe the old canvas on the stretchers is only on the stretchers and the back of the canvas that you can see is the back of the boat painting itself. There are a few minor scratches and paint losses on the painting as well as the usual crackling to the paint that you always get on aged paintings like this.
