English Staffordshire flatback statue showing Lord Kitchener on horse back.
Here we have a wonderful old English antique showing Lord kitchener mounted on a horse. Lord Kitchener 1850- 1916 was known for the Boer war and also for being the secretary for state for war who rallied the troops for the first world war 1914-1918. There is a very famous poster showing him pointing his finger saying "your country needs you." He died when the ship he was travelling on, HMS Hampshire, hit a German mine off Orkney.
The statue itself is in good condition for its age with no chips or cracks that I can see. These flatback figures were produced with a flat back to be able to sit comfortably on your mantlepiece.
A super old antique statue that would be ideal for anyone with an interest in military history as well as antique decor.
