French antique oil painting. 19th century oil painting of a rural scene. Here we have a lovely old painting showing a building with people in front, next to a river or lake with a windmill in the distance. There is a lot going on in the picture, a really interesting scene. The painting has a real bucolic charm and romance about it. I have said that the painting is nineteenth century but it may well be earlier it is certainly a very old canvas. Sympathetically reframed and cleaned, this would make a wonderful addition to any collection.

Condition: The painting does have some condition issues as I have tried to show in the photos. There are a couple of small holes to the top and some staining to the top left hand side. There is some rubbing to the paint towards the base and a white scratch mark in the bottom right hand corner. There is also crackling present to the paint surface as to be expected on an aged painting like this. We have left the painting in its original found condition. At some point the painting has been refixed to some new stretchers at the back. The painting certainly has some age to it but the canvas itself seems to be in quite good condition.
