Victorian era over painted photo portrait of a lady in an original nineteenth century gilt wood round frame. This is a very striking old French picture showing an older lady in Victorian dress. The picture itself is an over painted photo, this was very popular during the second half of the nineteenth century. The frame is a very nice example of a gilt wood nineteenth century wooden frame.
Condition: Good used condition, though there is damage to the frame, a couple of cracks to the wood at the base which have been repaired at some time in the past, but repaired very well, they are hardly noticeable. The frame does have some chipping and cracking to the gilding in places in keeping with its age. The picture has been quite recently rebacked and had a new hanging string added.
