French antique pewter plate.
Here we have a wonderful large old antique pewter plate.
The plate has a shallow bowl so is not completely flat.
The plate has developed a lovely rich patina over the years. There are some white marks on the surface as you can see in the photos. I have not attempted to remove these marks the plate is in its original found condition we have just given it a soapy wash.
There are a few small dings and scratches on the plates surface from years of wear but these just add to its originality and character.
There are some letters stamped into the side rim of the plate on the top surface " L V M D" which I can only presume are the initials of the original owner.
You can see as you look at the plate side on there is a little bit of distortion as is quite usual to find on such an aged piece but again this does not detract from the splendour of this lovely old plate.
A wonderful old pewter plate that would make a fabulous decorative feature in any home.
