French antique shop bell. Antique bell.
This is a very interesting old object in the form of a shop door bell.
I say shop door bell but it may possibly have been a butlers bell from a large house.
The bell as you can see is in a worn condition with a lot of verdi gris on the bell itself and tarnishing in all areas of the spring.
I am not sure of the material of the bell, I know often they are bronze but I really could not say with this piece.
It has a makers mark for Goldenberg on the strap.
One thing I can say is that it has a fabulous ding a ling. As good today as the day it was made.
A splendid antique item that would make a really interesting decorative feature in the home and create a real talking point.
