French antique cat sculpture. Small cat sculpture ornament.
A gorgeous little heavy cat sculpture. This is a perfect gift for a cat lover. A really charming antique piece that can‘t help but make you smile.
I think this is some form of soft stone as it it is quite heavy for its small size, It feels too heavy for chalkware. I think the piece is quite old, there is a hand written label attached to the bottom which is held on with some sticky tape. I have left it in place but it will just peel off. There are a couple of initials at the base on the end of the cat, it looks like CA. The overall condition is good it does have a few small nibbles here and there but nothing too bad. One very tiny chip to his left ear done a very long time ago. There is discolouration from years of handling and a small unusual nick in the tail which you can see in the photos.
It is really nicely modelled, the artist has really captured the character of the cat. It would make a splendid paperweight for the desk.
Dimensions approx. Height 6 cm 2 1/2 ins. Length 9 cm 3 1/2 ins. Width 6 cm 2 1/2 ins.
