Antique shell rosary case. Shell and brass rosary purse.

French antique pink shell case with brass mountings to hold a rosary or rosary. This beautiful little purse or case was originally to keep safe a rosary or rosary. The shell is mounted in brass with a tiny hinge and clip fastening, along with 2 little rings that would have once fastened to a chain so the shell purse could be carried like a little bag or worn on a chatelaine. The little shell purse is missing it's chain, though it could easily have another added, or a ribbon could be added instead to make this purse usable. The clip is in good working order and the overall condition of this piece is very good. This shell case would be perfect for a rosary or for rings or earrings or to add to a chatelaine, where it would be period correct for Victorian and Edwardian eras.
