French antique bronze bell. This is a very old interesting item in the form of an antique bell. This bell as you can see is in a worn condition with tarnishing on the clapper and years of patina to the bell itself. It is however in a very solid condition and will go on for centuries to come. This bell has some real age to it, we believe it to date to the nineteenth century, it may even be earlier you can see the clapper has a lot of age to it. It may well have originated in the Normandy town of Villedieu les Poeles where bell making has taken place for centuries. One thing I can say is that it has a fabulous ding a ling. As good today as the day it was made, really quite loud. A splendid antique item that would make a really interesting decorative feature in the home and create a real talking point.
