French bust. Plaster bust of a girl.
Here we have a very special bust in plaster of a girl.
The bust is early twentieth century and has an Art Nouveau feel to it especially in the face of the girl, but I would think it dates to the 1920s so it could be said to Art deco, it seems to be a cross over between the two.
It is very nicely modelled and has a real feeling of serenity about it.
It was found locally in an antiques market here in Normandy.
As you can see in the photos it has been rubbed in places over the years which has exposed the plaster beneath. You can see she has a a rubbed nose. I think this just adds to the authenticity of the piece and adds to its character and charm. It certainly gives it a shabby chic feel. There are some numbers and a signature on the back but the signature is quite rubbed and hard to read.
A fabulous old bust that would look superb if you are going for that classical French feel, a piece that would really add to any shabby chic look and be a wonderful addition to any boudoir decor.
