This is a lovely little example of a Gladstone bag.
Back in the day, the doctor would never have been without his trusty Gladstone bag.
The overall condition is good for its age there is scuffing here and there and the odd scratch as to be expected, you can also see there is what looks to be a black ink stain on one side of the bag. At one end the leather is starting to wear a bit, you can see this in the photos. the inside has a loose fitting cotton lining which is a little stained here and there as to be expected.
There are two sliding brass clasps at either end of the metal bar on top of the bag these lock the ends in place, one is a little stiff.
The bag opens and closes very well but the key for the main central lock has long since departed.
This bag is of a really cute little size and would be ideal as an accessory for a steampunk outfit or for a medical collector, or indeed for anyone who appreciates quality items from a bygone age.
